Up to $45 for a bag put in the overhead bins!!

Link to story in USA Today.

This really is the thin end of the wedge.
With no lack of irony, Ryanair get a mention in the article - could it be that they will be the next to do it? v( n(

I see lots of arguments about bags being placed under the seat in front

Yup. Interesting. If they do charge you for carry on, and there's no space because eventually everyone's brought their oversized bags on board - when does the fight break out when the FA insists you loose legroom to stow your bag?

A popcorn and kodak moment, methinks.

While I kind off like Spirit, they have made some moves in the last few months that have me scratching my head.

Making it next to impossible to get "the big seat up front" and now this.

While I can understand that when you pay $9 for a ticket you have to expect a few add-on's, but this is one to many IMHO.

Given the amount of carry-ons brought on US aircraft, there is some merit in charging for carry-on baggage and letting checked bags go on for free! :w

I hate these bolt on charges, it makes it impossible to compare prices unless you go through all the booking options online to find out the final figure, but that is exactly what they are trying to achieve.
