TAP

So I've decided to book with TAP to fly from LGW to OPO next April seeing as at the time of booking the other option of easyJet were not taking bookings (just checked to see they are now, but a lot more than what I paid TAP).

Has anyone ever flown with TAP before and are they any good? I'm on a tap:discount which includes a meal and checked luggage.

Think they are pretty decent, European flight wise.

Flown with them three times now all legs on A320's IIRC.

Pretty good service; typical continental European legacy- friendly, do exactly what you expect and the service has a bit more about it than the dreaded BOB style service from EZY.

I've just booked for next year TAP MAN-LHR-LIS-LHR-MAN (MAN-LHR on BMI) by using up my BMI miles and had been put off by the Skytrax reviews. But they are short flights so I wasn't too concerned.

I should know better than to read skytrax - it's always seemed a disproportionate amount of negative reviews get through the moderation process.

I know - was reading some for Swiss and a lot of the negatives are nothing to do with the airline, down to overheated expectations or the airline 'failed' to rectify a customer caused problem.


BTW Lisbon is a lovely city to visit. I recommend the castle, the Gulbenkian Museum and taking the train/tram to the Maritime Museum in Belem.

Thanks folks. Looks like I may have made the right choice to buy when I did. And flying with a Portuguese carrier will undoubtedly be a change in the meantime!

I suppose with Skytrax it's definitely the sort of site you go on to complain, rather than a site where you go to praise or leave general comments like you would with TripAdvisor.

As you say, London-Portugal is only 2 hours or so, so even if it is shocking at least it'll only be for a short period of time compared to a 9 hour flight to Florida etc.
