I'm at a conference in LA next week but have Friday pm through Sunday am free before returning on Sunday's VS8. Happily The Kitten will be flying out to join me for latter half of the week, so does anyone have any non-touristy suggestions as to what to do for 48 hours in LA?

Thanks,

Chill out on the beach in Santa Monica? Perhaps hire some bikes - there is a path along the beach down past Venice.

A bit touristy but no apologies, visit the Getty Museum, if you haven't already been there it is well worth a visit.

Can't fault Luke's idea of Santa Monica. Relax on the promenade or the pier.

If you like movies check out the ArcLight in Hollywood - great theatre on one of the evening.

If you fancy a drive on the Saturday take the coast road up from Santa Monica to Ventura (beautiful little town) and come back on the Ventura Freeway - time for shopping at Camarillo Premium Outlets.

I'll be getting my hair cut in the lounge... thanks for all the suggestions. I think the beach beckons. :)

BC,
The King Tut exhibition is currently at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and is breaking all attendance records. If you fancy such things, perhaps your hotel concierge could get you some tickets.

Even though you have your haircut booked, I like VS045's idea of going to Bev Hills. Plenty of places to eat and much to see.

Looking forward to your TRs and enjoy your trip. PM or call if you need anything while here.

If you decide on the beach then I can definately recommend Lilly's in Venice Beach for dinner - the Tarte Minute is to die for! Yum!

Then head maybe 5 miles up the PCH and have a picnic on one of the public beaches that know ever uses.
