I took Mr DL to CWL yesterday morning to catch his flight to AGP (he usually flies from BRS). I had to pay a £1 to drop him off!!!! I know it's only £1 but we drove up , he got out and I was away ( 10 seconds in total). Outrageous :0 .How else are you supposed to get to the terminal ?? Do other airports do this??

Luton has some charge like this as well. Amazing. And there's no other option to stop anywhere else without risking a ticket. Its utterly despicable really.

i saw this a few days ago.

they must be struggling to survive now that FlyBe & BMI Baby have stopped the services that were meant to start last summer but only the flyBe 4 a week MAN service started and then stopped.

after a multi million pound re-build you want a few more than the 5 Ryanair and 1 Thomson flights that are scheduled for most days now.

They're just bringing it in at BRS too - £1 at the drop off car park for up to 20 mins. There's a free drop off (up to 10 mins) too, but it's a bit further away now...

Cheers

Shame they don't inform you of this on the approach road (the signs are now just a mass of numbers and letters which mean nothing) v( v( .

This is one of the reasons that I now boycott Luton. Of course, there are plenty of other reasons, for example:

1) The extortionate long term parking charges, given that you're basically just parking on a bit of wasteland in the middle of nowhere
2) The truly run down feel of the place
3) The utterly dire road network leading up to it meaning that you're always stuck in queues waiting for the privilege of paying to be dropped off.

Very annoying as it's just 20 mins down the road from me, but it's light years away from Stansted in terms of quality. Any chance that Virgin could be persuaded to fly from there I wonder? They could always turn the old EOS lounge into a clubhouse!

From what I've been reading regional airports in the UK, with focus on CWL and their loss of BMI Baby, are really being hit hard. You can't blame them for trying to make a quick buck.

This is all part and parcel of carriers squeezing airports as much as they can on landing fees. The latter have to make money somewhere.

+1, I think for some of the smaller regional airports, the end is nigh.

Bournemouth airport are simply having a laugh, the £2.50 even applies to taxis so my usual fare from my house has increased from £10 to £12.50 a 25% increase :(!
