Dearest Gurus oo)

I'm planning to fly into Frankfurt at the end of October. Does anyone have any useful tips please? I've researched a fair bit but personal advice would be much appreciated.

I plan to have hand baggage only.

Is the best way to travel from the airport into the city by train? Flight scheduled to arrive lunchtime. On the inbound, flight due to leave mid evening.

Anyone stayed at The Marriott? I've read the reports on Tripadvisor. I may not have a choice as this is for business.

If I should get an hour or 2 to myself (unlikely), is there anywhere I really must see?

Thank you in advance oh wise ones y)

I have flown in & out of Frankfurt a few times (but not visited Frankfurt itself). The only comment I can make relates to your return flight. In T2 @ Frankfurt, on some gates, there is additional security screening just before the gate. They will confiscate any liquids over the 100ml limit here, even if purchased after the first security checkpoint. (Have always been on within EU flights, so duty free is out of the question... but they will have the bottle of water you bought after security off you).

FRA is modern, clean, well layed out - everything you would expect from a major German airport. My only complaint is the security staff are rude and bossy to the point of aggressive.
Signage is excellent and getting to Marriott is easy by train (inside the airport) or taxi (about euro50).
As you would expect you can set your watch by the train schedule.

Marriott is right next to the Fairground so good for that. Thats about the only good point come to think of it. There is nothing in that part of town except the fairground (Exhibition Centre to you and me). Boring is the nicest I can say.

However the subway will take you to the real centre where there is an abudance of great places to eat, drink and make merry. They have some great German beers as you would expect, most places. I always stay at The Westin whic is a wonderful hotel, great location and probably same price as Marriott.
