After the usual dithering on my part (and room prices/availablity rising/ dwindling as a consequence :0 ) I now have 4 nights booked in Maui (Kaanapali-Aston Mahana) and 5 in Waikiki (Marriott Spa and Beach Hotel).
Save for the trip to Pearl Harbour what else do we need to try and see ? I'll have a car in Maui and am happy to rent a car in Waikiki for a couple of days if this makes seeing things easier - I would however like a bit of chill time (given we will have a bit of madness in Vegas first :D :D ) and any recommendations for restaurants/ bars/ beaches would be great :) .
I gather shopping options are much the same as the mainland with several big malls on Oahu ?
Many thanks.

Well I climbed Diamond Head (and got a certificate to prove it!). A lot of it was flights of steps and my abiding memory was meeting a young Japanese lady who was coming down and had climbed wearing kitten-heeled mules. :0 :0

Check out if there are any performances at the Hawaii Theater in Downtown Honolulu, while you are there. Here is the link: http://www.hawaiitheatre.com/event_calendar.html

Go to Leonard's Bakery in the Kapahulu neighborhood of Honolulu. Their Portuguese pastries are awesome, especially their Malasadas.

Here is a retro 60's experience. Go to the Top of Waikiki, which is a revolving restaurant and bar at the top of one of the high-rise offices in Waikiki. The views of Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean at night are quite lovely.

Indigo's in Downtown Honolulu is a good restaurant. Roy's in Waikiki and Sidestreet Inn Cafe in the Kakaako district of Honolulu are good restaurants.

Aloha, e komo mai and enjoy my hometown of Honolulu!
