I thought their franchise decision for the west coast mainline was to be announced about now, a search on google seems to find nothing to indicate this. It was supposed to be switched over to whoever was new at start of April next year...

Anyone know about this (given virgin trains is related to Virgin Atlantic)?

Ah thanks. I'm guessing Virgin trains will largely go into hibernation if it loses the franchise.

I'm hoping they stay in, its strange that lots of French and Dutch groups end up taking over services in the uk, yet not many british groups end up taking over services in France and Holland...

As long as its not First Group. Virgin don't provide a whole lot of luggage space on their trains, but last time I took something large on a First Group train, it had to go in the corridor. They don't seem to believe that you should take luggage...

I hope First Group don't get near the West Coast line. It's my 'local' line.

On First 'Great' Western you still have to hang out of the window to open the door!
