From the New York Times

Would make the whole seat selection game even more complicated

'now do I keep that nice seat in the A-zone or go and sit next to the interesting company CEO upstairs'

And how many miles would you get in compensation if your seat mate failed to live up to expectations?

I can see how this is good in theory but in practice I really don't see how it's going to work. What happens if your chosen seatmate rejects you? Could lead to some broken hearts... not to mention scuffles about who gets to sit next to the pretty lady :D

Interesting idea - although it could be further enhanced by making people that opt in to this experience change seats every 10 minutes, rather like speed dating. You'd just have to hope that you weren't plonked next to the management consultant when the seatbelt light went on (with apologies to all you management consultants out there :o) )

Thinking back through my dim and distant past, can only ever remember one 'interesting experience' :| with an passenger I was seated next to. So rewind 15 years and I'd probably be game for something like this...
