This morning I was aware that the track over the Atlantic to the US was heading over the south of Ireland and, being the nerd that I am, checked it out on the Plane Finder app on my iPad. G-VRAY was heading in my direction but to the north of me. Well I couldn't miss the opportunity to see her, albeit at 30,000+ ft, could I? So out with my binoculars I went (I said I was a nerd) and sure enough in the sky was a silver plane to the north. I could clearly see the VS tail fin and the 2 engines on the plane but the surprising thing was instead of proceeding due west it was taking a south-westerly course and heading towards me. However it then flew above clouds and that was the end of that.

Later on I looked once more on the Plane Finder app and the track of G-VRAY was still there and this is it - the red line:

Was it buzzing me, paying homage or what? :o)

Dear HL....it's obvious that after all these years of you tracking VS routes they decided to pay homage to the lady of all thigs VS related. Hopefully you had the requsite Tanqueray to hand to speed it on its' journey? Did the pilot tip the wings in respect? :D

How kind! :D

Alas I couldn't see if he tipped his wings as the plane disappeared behind a cloud.

As for the Tanqueray (apart from the fact that Bombay Sapphire is currently on offer in my local supermarket) even 10:30am is a bit too soon even for me.....

.......unless of course I am in a Clubhouse somewhere in the world :o)

Well...just to make you feel a bit easier, I toasted my Tanqueray to the flight...it's only 164 Rands here in South Africa...about 14 Pounds Stirling..so a supermarket offer isn't needed just yet..cheers..hic..hic.

I know. My brother lives in Illovo Beach so I know the prices around there.

Honey Lamb

Surely, the VS flight was paying homage to your unique status in the annals of V-Flyer :D

Any reference to G&T is purely coincidental :w
