Top Marks for BA (for a change)

My daughter lives on the east coast of America and has to get back here for her Grandmothers funeral. As she needs to travel within 7 days all the airlines were comimg up with prices of around $1,200 as there are no apex deals to be had within that time span. She tried BA out of desperation, explaining about the funeral. The ticket agent put her through to his supervisor who asked several questions regarding the bereavement then offered her a return flight for $500 as a compassionate gesture. [y]

For the time being this has raised BA to my second choice airline, FCA now third.

Pretty impressive. I guess they will have loyalty for many years to come from that generous gesture. Well done to them, they deserve it. I am truly impressed with that.

I was reading over on FT that some of the US airlines also offer a bereavement package where flights can be booked at very short notice, in some cases all they want is the name of the funeral director arranging the service (and they don't call them to check either) - given that most US airlines are in a bad way, this is also commendable.
