Hi all

Firstly, do you get the miles for balance transfers? i.e. if i transfer 1k from another card will I get 1k miles as well? or is it only on purchases [?]

Secondly, is it possible to transfer CC money to a bank account? and if so would i earn miles on that money? basically i have a little part time business on eBay and in a year i spend thousands and therefore could earn me loads of miles but my supplier does not take credit cards!

Any help greatly appreciated, or any other top tips for earning miles as well [y]

Cheers, Wayne

I stand to be corrected, but I am pretty sure it is no to miles on balance transfers.

I am not sure I understand the second part, I take it people pay you on EBay, by paypal therefore your credit card shows a surplus balance, which you would then like to transfer to a bank account? If that is right, then I am sure that will be a no for earning points as well.

AFAIK you only earn points on purchases. Not cash advances, penalty charges or balance transfers.

As far as the best ways to earn points, have a look at the previous threads in this forum. There have been lots of ways suggested in the past.

Hi Nick

Thanks for advice, i didnt think the balance transfer would count but wanted to be sure!

As for the second question, i meant that, for example i spend about £2k a month on PSPs from a supplier in USA but they dont except payment from credit card, so I need away to get the money from CC to my bank! but dont worry about that im quite sure that is not possible, unless i pay the money to someone Paypal first but then i lose about 3% of the money!

[:?] Im confusing myself now! [:?]

AFAIK not many, if any, points reward scheme will offer points of any type on transfers of cash/balances. Its pretty easy to manipulate e.g I could transfer lets say 5,000 to my current account earn the miles, pay off the bill in full, transfer money again etc..

Yeah good point! if they did give points for balance transfer i was going to get the AMEX card or BA AMEX and buy everything on the AMEX one (gianing points for VS or BA) then balance transfer using VS CC so that I would gain double points, plus the original points!

Thought it was to good to be true though! [:p]
