Sorry guys, that was a fatal flaw on my part ... I must try harder!!! :D:D

could you teach the wife the word budget...

In truth we pretty much stay in standard rooms, for the most part we are running around playing tourist.

However where I will not stay in a standard room is on a cruise ship,I know apples and oranges, but the extra room in a suite on a ship is so nice.

For Vegas I don't think a suite is a must have. For the most part they are a marketing thing, something to give a player so they can go home and brag about it...

That is unless you have a large suite and say 20 friends coming into town that need a place to blow of steam..Pete...Bazz ????? [}:)]

Exactly, its different strokes for diffrent folks!

Im one of those awkward people who never wants to stay in a standard room, if im going on vacation i want to see what the best available is and then see how close to that i can get on my budget. Part of the holiday for me involves having a lovely hotel suite (and a lovely VS flight ;))

Vegas is of course one of the most ostentatious and opulent places to go for vacation, so the hotel room has to follow suit :D

So lets test your loyalty, if you can have one or the other: Lovely VS Flight or Lovely Suite at a hotel - which one will it be?

For me I love a suite, but I'm not going to pay stupid money for it. As long as it has a nice bed, a window to look out of, its clean and has a shower. At the Bellagio, I was quite happy with my upgraded deluxe lakeview room, it had electric curtains and drape - what more an you ask for.... all for $139/night.

Thanks,
Richard

Didn't you brake the drape Richard and wasn't that out of disappointment at not getting an upgrade to a suite [:p][}:)];)

I can tell you that having the rooms/suites facing the fountains are worth having if you've never stayed there before. Depending on how long you are staying you are bound to know all the words to 'Proud to be an American' and 'Time to say Goodbye' and you will get used to hearing the 'whoosh' of the pressure jets going up at key points. They pump the music into the room as well.
We had a standard fountain view and I thought the room was fantastic. However, I have got to say that I found the Bellagio on whole to be aweful. Staff looked down their noses at me something else and I really take offence to that! My favourite Vegas hotel, although I have not actually stayed there is The Mirage and the secret garden is well worth a visit (assuming that Sigfried and Roy have not taken their White Tigers to be put down for the mauling).

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and no longer are Siegfried and Roy at the Mirage. They were advertised as being at a different hotel, but no tigers were mentioned. I wondered just what they ARE doing now!

Through Virgin, you are allowed to check in at the VIP area, which I did and I was offered a free upgrade to a Penthouse suite. Funnily enough I turned it down as I had secured a fountain view room through VH (last time we were there, there was none available and I wasn't going to miss out this time!) - she looked surprised as I guess not many people turn down a free suite upgrade!

I was glad I did as the 'standard' room was fantastic and the views of the show by night were amazing - and yes, I'm Proud To Be An American is still ringing through my ears, as is Luck Be a Lady, Viva Las Vegas, some spaghetti western sound-a-like and All that Jazz - great schmultz!!

Really enjoyed the stay and the staff were fantastic - can't wait to go back again, and perhaps next time blag that free upgrade!!

Is 'Proud to be an American' new or something???? I heard it a few times and it just made me cringe....

There are lots of Penthouse suites at Bellagio, so probably not *this* one, but i think i have seen the program you are talking about ... was it a countdown of best suites in Vegas?
