We have pretty much decided South Carolina is our holiday destination. done it 4 times now, the last two flying Virgin to Orlando and driving up.
Next year will either do the same, or I'm considering the possibility of using my miles for a Delta flight to Atlanta and driving from there.
Delta currently have either reclining seats or full bed in their business class, which I understand equates to Upper in Virgin. So my question is:
Anyone know where I can see the actual plane configuration of London Atlanta flight?

DLs website will show you the seats available in the booking process and also lists the equipment onboard the planned aircraft.
Just do a dummy booking select a flight and it should give you an option to see available seats.

Yes, just a CHill710 mentioned, when booking the available flights appear. You then click on 'Details' and then the option 'view seats'. Actually a friend of mine flew this route recently and just to let you know that DL Business Elite doesn't really equate to Virgin UC....in my few experiences anyway.

Flew with Delta to Atlanta in Feb,
Flew Business Elite we found the service and food much better then we had had with Virgin on our last flights.
The seat however does not compare to Virgins UCS the Foot well make is feel a bit coffin like and sleeping was not easy.
All flights out of LHR with Delta are now flat bed seats.
If you are flying as a couple then I would go for the centre seats as the window seats are not the best for chatting or having dinner but are great for solo travelers
as far as I am aware they are all on B767 and are 121 in Business
Hope that helps some

Many thanks for the quick replies.
I'm just looking for the best way to guarantee a flat bed on the return trip and thought Delta may be it because they have more seats than the Virgin Gatwick fleet.
It's also about an hour shorter drive to our destination.

go to http://www.delta.com and click on "book a trip" from the menu items.
input LHR to ATL, choose a date and hit enter. It will give you a list of flight options. On the left-hand side, with each flight option, there is an arrow that says
"details" . Click on that, and you will see the type of plane for that particular flight.
You can then go to the very top of the website page, to the "traveling with us" section. Pull that down, and you will find, on the right hand side, the section "airports and aircraft" and you can find the aircraft and it's configuration there. Alternately, once you find the aircraft, go to "seat guru.com" and do the aircraft search there. I hope this helps.
