Having experiened UCS to SYD (can't do HKG stopover), which was very nice but not cheap, I'd like to invite the assembled brains of V-Flyer to offer their thoughts on other good quality/value carriers routes to SYD from the UK.

I've been musing Royal Brunei - business for around 1800 GBP return, done BA WT+ which was Ok but not stellar. What would you recommend for a budget of around £2K GBP? I've got 35K miles to use by the way...

Cheers all.

as long as you get one of the aircraft that has been refitted with the new flat beds for the cost you can't beat it,I think there is only one aircraft that hasn't been refitted yet so your chances are good.

I agree VS is probably best, but with a budget of £2K it's probably not an option - hence the question about "other carriers".

Thanks.

Can't speak from any first hand knowledge, but in the paper on Sunday, a company called Austravel were offering flights to OZ from £249 [?], they also offer upgrades to PE with 6" extra leg room for £199 each way.

Travelbag are also offering Singapore Airlines business class to Sydney at £2159. A bit over your budget, but worth having a look at I would have thought.

I've just tapped some random dates into expedia, and you can get to SYD in biz class for:

£2124 - on Austrian Airlines
£2386 - on Gulf Air

more cost effecient alternatives - that are TP and mileage earning.

The £2159 SQ fare is the one I would go for though.

p.s. Remember you dont get any booze on Royal Brunei (if that is important to you!)

I would heartily recommend the SQ option - lovely way to fly!
