I really do sympathise, but this sort of thing is exactly why i no longer use travel companies (not even VH any more) because when things go wrong they really do hit the fan.

I'm normally an independant traveller, booking flights, accommodation, cars, etc all seperately. I always get significantly better seats, cars, everything for the same sort of budget as the holiday companies basic package. For personal reasons, for this holiday I just wanted not to have to think about anything, just to turn up with the Daught for the plane on Xmas day. I do plan on writing to them when I get back but suspect if anything to be fobbed off with vouchers which I'd never use.
