It depende a lot on where your seat is.

On a 747 upstairs, it's generally really quiet - if you're in Y just aft of the wings - it's noisy!

As for noisiest, for me has to be an AA F100 near the back. The noisiest, most uncomfortable franly crappy journey I've ever had...

I'm flying on the A380 with Etihad (economy) in September. Very excited about it. I love seeing the A380 in the sky, we often have them overhead when they are on their decent into LHR. They sound so different.

Loved seeing them on the ground at Farnborough airshow and witnessing some very impressive flying by the pilot throwing it around a bit in the sky.

I saw last week that Malaysia Airlines has put all their 6 380's up for sale. I am not aware of any being sold second hand before and it will be an interesting test of a 2nd hand market.
Note sure who would be a potential buyer as the only major player is EK which may not want to take used.

If the sale is successful it will be interesting to see which other operators also want to lose them. TG have publicly said that they regret buying them and are not quite sure how to deploy them.
Not a single North or South American airline operates them - it could be a great plane but in the wrong decade.

I have done a dozen legs on my ABDs on Emirates 380s. I love it. I remember being amazed at the quietness on my first take off. It is also a stable plane.

My trips have been in both J and Y and obviously J was much better, the window adjacent "suites" on the top deck are excellent as is the bar. Economy on Emirates was perfectly OK but tight.

I shall be doing another ABD to OZ later in the year and this will be in J or F on the Etihad 380..it will be interesting to make the comparison.

He can't really say anything else without formally cancelling the order.

But as he says it's all 6 or none. And I just can't see how 6 could be viable for VS all year round.
