Can anyone tell me about any experiences with them?
No, but you could check out http://www.airlinequality.com
Yup, I've flown with Air Mauritius quite a few times and I've had really good experiences. For a non-mainstream airline, I thought they were excellent. The service is great, food is good, seats are good - I've only flown Y and from memory, their pitch was about 33-34", which compares favourably with just about every European/US airline.
PM me if you need any further details!
Routes I've flown with them are:
BRU-MRU
LHR-MRU
MRU-JNB x3
(Flew to JNB after all holidays there and then back to LHR UC:D on VS!

Hi Anna - I flew out to Mauritius on them a few years ago - they used Airbus 343s and I chose business class because the price was about half (I think) BA Club ... for the price it was OK but subsequently I have flown BA. The reasons being - Mauritius business class is more like WT+ or PE in terms of the seat style though with a little more legroom (it's certainly not a bed and doesn't recline that far), the food and drink service isn't that good in comparison, nor is the entertainment, staff were OK though. Overall it's a classic of you get what you pay for and if you can afford it choose Club World.
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

Hi
We flew Air Mauritius in Sept 2003 and found the legroom situation fine. It was 34" seat pitch.
The movies were the usual roll around style, not v-port but still fine.
They don't offer all types of alcoholic drinks but the majority mainstream ones were on offer. Their rum cocktail is a killer!
Also, if you are travelling as a couple, it's a 2-4-2 scenario which makes life a little better. NB. You can request your seats in advance by telephoning them.
I did find the staff a little slow to come round serving drinks and they appeared to "hide in the back" on the night flight. However, when you did go to the back to request a drink they were courteous.
On the whole, not a bad airline and if flying economy, I'd rather go with the 34" Air Mauritius seat pitch than BA 31".

Personally I think their business class is dreadful. 2-3-2, I think its 42" pitch with 4.5" screens. Clearly non AVOD. Food is heated in ceramics and then dropped onto your tray with those 'tong' thingies. Service IS good, but seat, food, IFE, lounges etc. are not great.
I once pleaded at check-in for an upgrade to First (I had flown LHR-MRU then worked with Liberty X for 10 hours (don't ask) and then flew back in the evening)... and was given one. The seats are superior, but old - however the food was trollied and much better.
Looking back at this post, maybe the best thing was getting that blag to First?
