Just logged into HSBC to check my accounts, and this news affects the Hilton Group (ie: shares). I have a nasty feeling this might ruin my shareholder discount at their properties...[n]

News Article Here

Extracts:

"Hilton tipped to complete hotels disposal" (at midday today...)

"Analysts expect the disposal to spark more consolidation deals in the hotel sector with Intercontinental Hotels tipped as a likely target for US hotels group Starwood."

Just think of all those Platinum Priority Club members stamping their feet for an upgrade the next time you check in at a Westin... ;)[:p]

Why would I be stamping my feet for an upgrade? Is there some sort of snobbery at work here?

And Starwood recently bought Le Meridien... they really will have an impressive portfolio if they snap up IC too.

And as for upgrades, I'll let Lady Sarah detail our 'upgraded' room in San Fran :) (Something about she now wants to be known as Queen Sarah!)

Thanks,
Richard

Ok, on arrival at the Westin we enquired about the room upgrade that we were expecting due to LRoMÕs Starwood Platinum status. We were given a room with an Ôupgraded viewÕ É. Which has been described on here as akin to getting upgraded from an aisle seat to a window in Y (i.e not exactly an upgrade). We were finally upgraded to a suite, which was rather nice É if not for the wedding party being held on the floor above [:#].

Why would I be stamping my feet for an upgrade?

Because, after the initial footstamping on arrival, in addition to the footstamping after the wedding party incident, we were upgraded to the Windsor Suite. (even though no suites were available [:p])

The Windsor Suite at the Westin was divine. Christened Windsor due to its most famous guest, Queen Elizabeth II, during 1983.

See [url=http://www.westinstfrancis.com/default2.asp?sID=Acco&pID=Suit
]here and [url=http://sanfrancisco.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2004/03/15/focus3.html
]here for further information.

The suite was huge, definitely the largest suite I have stayed in, and encompasses a full kitchen in addition to a dining and living room and separate bedroom.

See below for my pictures, LRoM im sure will upload his pictures as I am no David Bailey.

All I can say is that it really made our vacation, having this beautiful suite to return to after a hard days shopping, and being the same one given to royalty too. Naturally, we are not expecting to get this suite again, but it goes to show what a little footstamping can get you :D

I am sure that was a nice one ...

And after some serious shopping (saw you two browsing in Macy's so busy that I wouldn't want to disturb you) it is absolutely correct that Westin recognized your need for the suite :)

I didn't get such a nice upgrade last time in the Westin (I am just a SPG Gold) and therefore I chose the Four Seasons this time; I didn't get a nice upgrade there but a nice corner room and very nice service during my vacation.

You don't get if you don't ask, or shout!;)

Cheers,

BTW, I had a dream two nights ago where I was given a Macy's voucher for £550 and 95% off everything. However, when I got there it was just a load of carousels.[:#]No RL jumpers for me then;)
