To be fair I saw this a day or so ago, and shoud have posted it here myself! Whoops.

It seems a good offer on the face of it, except for the small problem of my vowing never to take the train again, after the last time I came back from Manchester and it took 6 hours.

I've seen sensibly timed BA flights for 60 quid for an upcoming trip. Maybe I can do a Virgin vs BA trip report with an unusual twist - i'm fully expecting the BA option in this instance to be superior!
