Mobile Rental in Oz

We have about ten days in Syd at the end of next month and I really don't want to get ripped off with my mobile bill so would prefer to leave it at home. But plans we have mean it would be good to have one with us.

Can anyone recommend any mobile rental companies or deals for our stay?

Or how much are Pay-As-You-Go ones out there?

Yes I can. Assuming that you have a multi band GSM phone that is unlocked or get it unlocked.

I bought an unlocked GSM phone do this sorta thing when I travel. I had AT&T Wireless in the States and a TDMA/triband GSM phone but then in TN no one has AT&T so I am with Verizon who uses CDMA tech.

Good rates for Auss with Virgin, any suggestions for SIM cards in New Zealand?
