Hilton Gatwick

Has anyone stayed in the "Executive rooms" at the Hilton Gatwick?What about the free drinks & canapes offered & snacks?

I only stayed in the family rooms last year and they were huge, but since it will only be me & hubby id it worth paying the extra?

Nope - especially if you are on a "night before an early flight". IMHO you just want a good comfortable room. Save your money and put it towards a few drinks and a good meal.

The rooms are not 'huge' but pleasant/modern. Executive lounge provides a limited continental breakfast. I haven't used the lounge in the evening but I'm led to believe alcholic drinks have to be purchased with the exception of a 'happy hour' and soft drinks are complimentary at all times.

Think happy hour is 5-7pm managed to sink a few.Didn't get an exec room as there were 3 of us and they only do king execs(or so they told me:D).The standard rooms are ok, I always book the cheapest and they will upgrade to the exec level and give lounge access if you are HH Au or above.

Both times I've stayed at the LGW Hilton, I've ended up been in the 'newer' section of the hotel which I think are down as been the 'Deluxe' rooms.

Very nice modern reasonably-sized rooms (although it's a fair treck from check-in) and been HH Au I do get access to the exec lounge.

I agree with James that the exec rooms are much nicer, especially the bathrooms, but I too had a long way to walk from reception.

The lounge 'happy hour' for free drinks and snacks is actually 6-8pm, there is a an excellent selection of booze and mixers but the warm snacks I saw were inedible.

I wouldn't actually pay extra for the exec room but obviously always take the freebie!

I think the exec rooms are much nicer and the bathroom has sep shower which makes a nice change for a UK hotel.

As for the walk to/from reception there is a short cut by the hairdressers I think that cuts off a large part of the walk.
