I'm glad Keith has resurrected this thread as it has reminded me that I've not reported back after my trip :D Can't really comment on the Wynn though as we only passed through so we could get a taxi outside. I have tried to have a look on their website but it's one of those rather pretentious sites that takes forever to load and certainly isn't worth the wait, that promises much and delivers nothing. If I visit a hotel's website I want lots of pictures of the rooms and the common areas so I know what to expect when I get there. [:I] oops I appear to have got a little carried away with my bad website rant there .. I'd better stop here or I'll go on forever.

Aaanyway .....

I loved the Bellagio and can assure DL & Lily that you've definitely made the right choice. We just had a standard room with no lake view. We were only there for 4 days so needed to pack so much in that we didn't intend to spend that much time in the room so an upgrade didn't seem necessary. The room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The beds were to die for, quite possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The air con was very easy to control so the room was always at the right temperature - I always find that hotel rooms end up either being freezing or roasting and the dryness makes me feel like death warmed up the next morning, but I had no such problems here. I always like a nice bathroom in hotels and this one didn't disappoint - a lovely deep bath, perfect for soaking after a day trekking up and down the strip and a great separate shower unit.

Being in the centre of the strip makes it really easy to get to other hotels up and down. We got around most by foot or taxi, to be honest I found the monorail next to useless, there are so few stops and it's such a trek to get to that you might as well have walked!

One of our favourite places was the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand, I love cats both big and small so it was great to be able to get up close and personal and with the glass tunnel I got some great pictures of sleeping lions above. We were lucky enough to be there when they had a couple of cubs that they were doing photo sessions with. They were absolutely the cutest things ever, 11 weeks old, Dude & Marina, we had our picture with Marina (I'll have to scan it in and upload you have to see how cute she is). Another favourite was the The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage. As we arrived there we passed a woman just leaving who was complaining that they should have come at a different time because all the cats seemed to be sleeping ..... she was clearly not a cat owner otherwise she would have known that this is all cats ever do, well except when then rouse themselves to eat. The dolphins were great too - proper little show offs who need very little encouragement from the trainers ;) There was something very peaceful about watching them swim around and I could have stayed there all day ... but there were shops to visit and we had to pick up our Barry Manilow tickets for that night!

We just went to the one show - Barry Manilow at the Hilton on the Saturday night. He was great and we really enjoyed the show.

In the end we didn't get to sample the restaurants and bars I'd asked about in another thread because I was actually recovering from flu so by the evening I didn't really feel up to partying. So I guess I'm just going to have to go back and I guess the question is would I stay at the Bellagio again. To be honest that would depend on how long I was going to be staying, if it was for 4 or 5 days again then absolutely, if it was for longer then I'd probably go for somewhere cheaper, possibly New York New York. We really liked the interior of this hotel and just seemed to keep ending up there ;)

So if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks Jan
Think I'll be staying with the Bellagio as my choice of B+B (for the time being anyway).

Dragonlady,

We're now back from our trip and we really enjoyed our stay at the Bellagio. We had booked a lakeview room but decided at check-in to upgrage to what they described as a suite but was in fact just a much bigger lakeview room on the 28th floor. It was only $20 per night to upgrade and well worth it as we had our 2 children with us and the extra space in the room came in handy. We also got front of the line passes with the room and use of a special elevator which only services the top few floors.

The room was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had no problems with housekeeping or room service. The hotel is in a great position on the strip. I'm really fussy when it comes to hotels and I would happily stay there again. The only downside is that the public areas do get very busy and if we hadn't had the front of line passes we would definitely have got fed up with queueing for breakfast. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Everybody we talked to in Vegas who had seen O really enjoyed it. We saw Mystere instead - a word of warning - if you see Mystere don't sit near the front. They pull members of the audience out and humiliate them. Really funny as long as you're not the one to be pulled out:D

We had the Champagne Brunch on the Sunday morning and although we had line passes we must have just timed it right, because they weren't really necessary. The other days we had room service - they make the most fantastic 3 egg omlettes , I'd definitely recommend one of those. We really enjoyed the buffet too, so many different things to choose from, I must have wandered up and down for ages before eventually deciding where to start. They don't skimp on the champagne either and keep offering top ups [y]
