Did you just ring up FC to request a code and did it take long for them to get one to you?

I just emailled the DHS yesterday and received a code within an hour. ACPO form sent off, so hoping I can get all this sorted soon. $20 a year to cut some waiting time is a bargain.

Have I got this right - need to get ACRO, code from FC, then register on GOES?
You all made it sound so easy - didn't realise it would be so long winded!
Am leaving for US in 10 days so not left myself much time.
Any help / advice welcomed thanks.

Yes that's what I did.

In order to get my Global Entry promotional code from VS I emailed the FC Customer service account and got a response the following day. They asked that I complete the ACRO Police certificate process and wait until the certificate is issued and contact FC again for the code.

I got the certificate and 24 hours later VS had given me a promotional code.

I setup a GOES account here https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes

I applied for Global Entry a week ago. You will need to enter both the promotional code from VS and the ACRO certificate number during the application process.

When the interview is finally scheduled you need to take that certificate with you.

My application is currently shown 'Pending Review'

You are encouraged to login to GOES every few days to check status.

Reading various forums there is confusion about the details returned on the Police certificate.

Amongst other things it might either return NO TRACE or NO LIVING TRACE

The definitions of these are that NO TRACE means literally that - there is no criminal record data, caution, warnings etc recorded against you.

NO LIVING TRACE means there is either a Criminal record, caution or warning etc recorded against you, but that it was sufficiently long ago to not have details shown due to a process called 'Stepping down'

Note that CPB have said for this stage of the trial only applicants with NO TRACE shown are able to apply.

I don't think you have any chance of getting the ACRO back within 10 days unless there is some kind of "hurry up copper" payment button. You can register on GOES at anytime.

There is, in fact, such an option! The premium service claims a two day turn around, excluding the date of receipt and shipping back. My certificate was faster than that - I posted it on a Monday and received it back on the Thursday.

Many thanks for the replies.
I posted my ACRO application today.
Looked into the premium service as suggested, but as I'll be in the US for several weeks, I'm having the certificate delivered to me there.
I've contacted FC for a code, so if that materialises, I hope to get an interview scheduled whilst I'm still over there.

Currently the wait time at a lot of centres is months, not weeks. Once you are over there keep checking for cancellations, and take a chance on just turning up - at SFO a lot of people, especially on a Friday, just don't turn up.

Keep checking for cancellations for the interview is good advice - thanks. Availability changes minute to minute.
I now have Global Entry but will have to wait till Feb to try it out.

The email confirming the police certificate application contains the certificate number you need to complete the application, so as long as you are pretty certain you have no dark past they might find, you can submit your entry and spend your $100 before you get the certificate back.
