We went for a company Xmas bash a few years back. Booze is very expensive so take your own. The thermal spas were GREAT and the nightlife got rave reviews from the younger people in the outing.

Planning on going in March. As the nations name suggests, it is cold.

watch out for the women...if you love tall sexy scandinavian blonds but are married..this is not the place to go..trust me on this one...

Great island, just wait a few months as righht now it is darn cold.

Take a glacier tour or go skiing.

If you go in the winter dress for it,the island sits on the edge of the gold stream so it never gets to cold, however the wind can blow very, very hard,so so be prepared to cover your face.

Yup--cold is the word. even with hot springs and lots of good food and drink-bottom line is cold. I used to fly Icelandic (Iceland Air)--even in summer--down jacket weather and ice queen FA's.

Still it's worth a Bjorkian weekend as long as you're not considering riding ponies through lavaland and sleeping in canvas tents (don't ask!).

Brrrr...

Sage advice with which I concur totally[:p];). Also the tip about the booze - It is mucho expensivo[:0]. Going up to the geezers (sp?) is a stunningly weird but wonderful experience - a must, must do!. Take a guide if you want to bathe (which you should want to do). You can sail on from there to greenland in not too many days. Great hiking, skiing and climbing (didn't do the latter myself). But prepared to get caught in the ice for a few days.
