Hi,

On Hilton (1000 VS miles per stay apart from the Hamptons) there is the Pointe Squaw Peak and Tapatio Cliifs for $160 ( both large resort hotesl with 8 pools and beautifully landscaped)

All rooms are suites ( separate living room amd bedroom)

I was at the Tapatio Cliffs on Jan 1-4 and loved it.

There is also the Hilton Garden Inn in Old town Scottsdale for $143 per night -a nice hotel also

Regards

I like Phoenix (everything except the Arizona sales tax [:(!] ). We have been three or four times - always in summer when the room rates are at their lowest (Mad Dogs and Englishmen and all that!!).

It is a great place, and there are some fantastic places to stay, as TBS points out. The one thing that we realised from talking to people there is the massive variation in room rates depending on demand.. the differential is almost 'Vegas like' [:0]

If it is the state fair, and this is near to Phoenix, I would suggest that room rates may be adjusted substantially to meet demand, so you are doing right to avoid those dates.

Last time we were there, we stayed at the Marriott. This is a nice hotel, it has an airport shuttle and is within walking distance of the massive Arizona Mills shopping complex (hence the sales tax comment!!)

It does good weekend deals, but that doesn't help you midweek [:I]

There's a wonderful little casita hotel a few miles outside of Phoenix--actually in Scottsdale--called La Hermosa Inn. Far nicer than staying in one of the resort hotels (one doe sneed a car). It was owned by a cowboy artist in the 1920's and is an absolute gem.

I second Dave's suggestion[y]; if you want excellent service, food, well appointed rooms, beautiful scenery ... well, you get the point.
The only problem is securing a room for $150. In October that might be a bit difficult. If you like the Boulders or other properties that are above your trip budget, try booking them as part of a package. I often find that the resulting cost/night is lower; the offset is that sometimes the room you receive will not be the best one on the property, but at least you're there!

Hi chafford andy,

As a Gold member then you should get a letter wich gets you two bottles of water from the shop and breakfast coupons for each day of your saty ( if two in your room then 2 coupons per day). These are worth a continental breakfast buffet in the Point in Tyme restaurant ( or you can pay an extra $6.50 for the full buffett including omellets made to order)
You will also get free access to the fitness center ( $10per day othwerwise)
Subject to availability you may get an upgrade ( ususally to the hillside suites which tend to be quieter than the main building but some of them can be a little hike away (and up steep roads) but there is a shuttle

Enjoy

Regards
