Planning to spend a night or two in London in early July. We'll have our 9 year old daughter with us. Spouse has declared she would like to stay someplace "historic" (or at least "elegant but not stuffy"). I was checking the Hempel, but got vetoed because it is soooooo very modern! I've stumbled on the Langham, which looks attractive. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks,

Steve

The Langham was the Langham Hilton for a lot of years and was their second London flagship hotel along with the Park Lane Hilton (both priced up similarly).I stayed a couple of times and was not wild about the place. Do not know how it is now after Hilton left.
Browns Hotel has just been totally refurbished by Rocco Forte Hotels and is very good.

I had the pleasure of a Royal Suite at Browns last February and it was fab! Rooms were superb, food was fantastic and the staff could not do enough for you. Made me a very happy bunny!

If the £££ can stretch to it the Park Lane Hilton's exec rooms are nice (although size varies) and the exec lounge serves Breakfast, light snacks, afternoon tea and nice evening snacks with limitless drinks and a great view we've spent many a evening working our way through their evening pizza snacks and champers.

Also worth a look but a bit pricey is the Langsborough that has the wow factor and has a lot of history that leaves us with a soft spot for it.

Covent Garden Hotel is great. Smaller than some of the others mentioned enabling personalised service.
