I stayed at the Hilton in November. It was a little pricey but then airport hotels are.

I found the service to be polite and efficient, the room clean and well maintained and the food was good, not great but good.

I had a few beers at the lobby bar whilst using their wi-fi (as its around twenty or thirty pounds a day for web access from the room) and sampled a few beers whilst working away and the wait staff were great.

I'll probably stay there again for a trip next month, its very convienient and you get such lovely views of Gatwick car parks.

I have no idea about the parking though as I didnt take a car.

Take alook at http://www.abcholidayextras.co.uk for hotel/patking deals.

Also look at http://www.baa.com as they seem to have frequent deals on parking in the Long Stay at the South Terminal at the moment.

I used the Premier Travel Inn, (http://www.premiertravelinn.com), at the North Terminal along with Long Stay at the South Terminal in November which was the best deal. The hotel does a shuttle to the South Terminal or you can walk to the North Terminal in 5 minutes, and catch the Monorail to the South Terminal.

Hope this is useful.

We stopped at the Hilton last year.
Apart from being right at the Airport I can't find another reason why I would choose it again.

This year we have booked seperate parking and Hotel.
Holiday-Inn Express in Crawley has been booked for £58. Room sleeps 4 and you get free continental breakfast thrown in.
Car parking for 3 weeks has been booked for £59 (Parking Express at South Terminal).

Hope this helps.

I have stayed at the Hilton Gatwick on several occasions. I have always found the rooms to be very comfortable the the proximity is great.
Now if you book a stay and park the car parking is at one of the local long stay car parks, not on-site at the Hilton. So you have to pull up to the check-in layby, let the chap their know that you are checking in, check-in and get your parking voucher, then move your car to the long stay car park, get the bus back to the terminal and walk back across the covered walk way. This is a bind, and to combat this I ALWAYS pay the extra for meet and great at the Hilton.

Hope this detail helps

We discovered a little hidden secret a few weeks ago when we had to move out of our flat for a new floor to be put in. Living so close we looked at all the LGW hotels and decided to opt for one a little further - Arora Int (actually in crawley but with free shuttle to and from airport) and we loved it!!!

The rooms are nice size and the bathroom has seperate shower and bath tub. We compared the prices for the time we wanted: The Hilton was coming in at around £185 for exec room, Renaiscance was around £155, Arora coming in at £85 and it's a really nice hotel with a really nice gym and spa plus the staff are really good, so if you're happy to stay off airport then you could try that one.

Just wondering where you managed to get 3 weeks parking for £59 from? Cheapest I've found so far for 16 days (which is what we'd need if we do stay in the Hilton the night before) is £82.60. Any help appreciated. [y]

Alan,
Used the link on the baa.co.uk website.
I'm not sure how they work prices out as 2 weeks came in at £55, but
prices do vary depending on dates.
Ours are for 3 weeks from 23rd April.

Hope this helps.
Tim.

Cheers for that Tim. Just used it now and its coming up at £82 for my 16 days, which are at the start of June. Still cheap for on aiport parking at LGW I think (cheaper than any of the off airport ones at least!), I was just wondering if you'd found a really good agent to book through or something ;) It must just be the date that I'm travelling on that is pushing up the price. Thanks anyway [y]

Have you tried BCP?? Ive found they are usually cheaper than NCP , certainly up at EDI/GLA , always an alternate option you could price.
Dates I need in June, they are coming out £20 cheaper than the NCP link through BAA...

Just booked my parking and hotel last night actually, and I've managed to get 16 days at NCP Flightpath for £60 (booked through Holiday Extras). I know its a 'North Terminal' car park, but at that price I don't care! BCP wanted about £110 for the 16 days. I've used BCP at Gatwick and B'ham before now, but recently they've always been more expensive.

Anyway, back to topic, we've booked a room at the Hilton now as well. Does anybody recall where the covered walkway comes out in the terminal? I'll need to find it when I come back from parking the car, and in all the times I've been through LGW (must be 10 or so times now), I can honestly say I've never spotted it, and don't really want to be walking round the terminal trying to find it looking like an idiot !

From memory it comes out on the first level above drop off point(departures/arrivals)but it is signposted quite clearly so you shouldn't get too lost when bus drops you off.

No probs Alan.Drop all luggage and other passengers off at the Hilton first- the concierge will allow you to park outside for a short period of time if you tell you are just unloading and checking in.
