Quick Q about this - hopefully someone knows from experience...

Read a bit here about a Virgin branded card which will earn you extra miles (sounds great) ... I currently have the plane (groan) old Virgin card which earns no points etc (originally taken out a few years ago for a b/t offer & it didnt qualify for shopping points through Virgin)...
Should I be able to upgrade my card to the miles-earning one , or would I need to cancel one & apply for other (hoping to move house later this year & will be after a new mortgage, due to impact on credit rating Id rather not have the "new user" search performed)

I changed my card from a points earning one to the miles one about 18 months ago and had to make a new application, and then cancel the old one and transfer the limit to the new one. Things may have changed now, but knowing MBNA, I doubt it.

You unfortunately cannot transfer your card, the only way to start earning miles is to apply for a new card which qualifies.

You have a couple of options - V.C.C offer a card which will earn you 1 mile for 1 pound spent, or a card which will earn you 2 miles per pound spent. The catch with the second option is that the card carries a £80 annual fee. Your annual credit card spend will probably make this decision for you......

Recruit your friends and family to help you out, purchase goods on their behalf - As long as your debt recovery skills are good, the miles will roll in quicker than you can believe!!!! [y]

As if by fate I had to phone them this morning - was in middle of phone order when realised card expired 01/06 [:0]
Slightly bemused as I hadnt got a replacement!

Need to make a new appl. & cancel last, not a problem - will get round to that sometime in the next few months.
Love the thought that I could earn miles just for paying my council tax & the dentist! Shame more places didnt take Amex really!
