San Francisco to Vancouver

Any tips for the best way to do this trip folks? Looking online shows the return flights as around $400 (economy) each - is this the best i can do? I surely hope not.... would flying from LA to Vancouver get me a better deal? Has anyone out there got any brilliant ideas I can nab?

When do you wish to travel?

The $400 ( economny/coach) or just over £200 seems about average or maybe slightly high ( same with LA).

However for travel at Easter weekend ( SFO-YVR on 15th Apr rtn 20th Apr prices at about £169 ( pretty good in my opinion) LAX-YVE for same dates ( expedia.co.uk) £180 for direct £169 via Calgary ( adding time)
and overall slightly more expensive than SFO for those dates

This will be either September or October. I realise it's too soon for any airline to be having specials, but it does seem steep for an internal flight. Or maybe it isn't?
