Hi folks,

I'm canvassing for a hotel recommendation for a one night stay in SYD on my "world tour". I know, "why only one night?" you're asking? Well, I have friends and family in Melbourne and Brisbane, but not Sydney, and I thought it would be rude not to check Sydney out, even if it was only for a night stop (arrive early afternoon one day, leave late morning the next). Unfortunately, no-one to doss with in SYD, so it will be a hotel stay.

So, I'm looking for something fairly central, less than ~£150 a night, close to all the cool stuff like the bridge and the Opera House and harbour cruises.

I was thinking of the Intercontinental, but I thought I'd ask the collective here first.

Cheers,
Mike

Mike

There is a lot of good stuff in honey lamb's thread about hotels for her upcoming trip to SYD and SIN. The bulk of the thread doesn't apply to SYD, but some of it does.

For somewhere different and a change from the normal "chain" hotels, why not try the Harbour Rocks Hotel. As the name implies its in the Rocks area so centrally located for sightseeing etc.

Approx £106 - standard room
£133 - Harbour view room

The hotel has a rather "olde worlde" charm and the food is good. There are also many eateries and pubs close by.
