Easyjet introduces flights outside the EU

Today Easyjet (highflyers favourite:D) announced the introduction of flights outside of the EU

I find this as an interesting and bold move by U2 I'm a bit puzzled as to why they are flying to Marrakech (which is inland) and not to Casablanca which is on the coast.

Any comments???

I have not flown FR either [:I] I just dont do LCC [:I] I am not a snob, i have just had some terrible experiences with Charter airlines in the past and now always try to avoid them like the plague. Also, i rarely travel in the EU/UK, most of my trips are long haul or by car.

But .. in the name of a social experiment, if anyone wants to shout me a return trip to somewhere on the orange one i will gladly partake and product a trip report.

Who pays the medical bill for my therapy on my return, is altogether another matter

Sarah, I think you are being a bit hard on the orange company, I have had some OK experiences there (and they do depart from right outside my office window!).

As for Ryanair I will try and find any which way to avoid using them. Almost everything is wrong about them long check-in queues, scrum boarding, dirty aircraft, no leg room etc. Only upside was that when I did use them they were bang on time. I am very suspect at how they deal with things when it all goes wrong - cancel seems to be the main solution they use.

Easyjet at least seem to have some spare capacity to resolve issues or charter in to cover (I have to admit my company benefits from this now and again!)

Nowt beats going on VS so far though - as we know!!

Casablanca is a complete hole.
Big industrial city that has more in common with the bad parts of Marseille than anywhere else!

Marrakech however is a simply stunning place.
And its pretty close to SRB latest 5 star boutique hotel in the Atlas mountains which is utterly amazing.

Up to last year the cheapest Royal Air Maroc/BA flights were over £250 return (for a 3 hour flight!) so a bit of competition is well overdue.

Although I am no fan of Ryanair, on my last couple of trips with them I have to say I walked straight up to the check-in desk, presented my ID and the boarding pass was issued as I was unfolding the confirmation page. OK, there was the usual boarding scrum but it was no different to any other airline and in fact, on the tarmac they filtered people to the back and front steps so there was little aisle congestion on board the aircraft. The plane was clean even though by my calculation it was the sixth flight of the day, but perhaps being a new aircraft helped.

I think that Marrakech is meant to be a cultural and "different" alternative destination to Easyjet's usual.
