Looks like AmEx is doing a double points promo that includes all type of purchases.

Only applies to USA AmEx members. Worked for me with the last offer.

Also the link to AmEx I provided only offer double points on the first $2,000 of spending a month. Some of the other offers in the FlyerTalk thread linked offer differnt offers that may better fit your needs and spending habits.
