Flyglobespan

Hi all,
I am flying direct to SFO from GLA with flyglobespan in a couple of weeks and I am SO nervous!!

The reason I first chose to fly with Virgin is that I have a bit of a thing with two engines and lots of water and with Virgin I was guaranteed 4 engines to Barbados! I HATE the bit flying over the atlantic on the way to the USA, normally I am shaking or being sick [:#] - It took nerves of steel to even get me on the plane to EWR from EDI last december (B757).

Has anybody flown with flyglobespan to SFO? Or taken a 767 accross the pond? My distict memory of a 767 is unfortunatly 9/11!!! Lets just say, to be honest - I am crapping it!! If I hadn't paid up front, I would NOT be going!

Hi John,

Is it Sanford you're going to[:0] SFO's San Francisco, and Sanford's SFB.

Just remember that hundreds of twin-engined jets including the 767 fly over the Atlantic every day and 99% of these journeys annually are without any problems whatsoever. I flew on a 767 to Jamaica 5 years ago and the other 3 transatlantics of mine have been with VS. Most of my journeys are across Europe.

Don't forget you will be only over water for 4 hours of your journey, the rest is over the American seaboard and, routing dependant, you may be over land for the rest of your journey.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about and if you've made it across the pond before to EWR in a 757 then a 767 journey will be a doddle. The cabin crew will be there to help you stay relaxed cos they have to do it whenever they turn up for work.

I've only been flying for 7 years because I was scared of even stepping onto the plane before first flying and now I love it.

Trust me you have absolutely nothing to worry about[y]

I wouldnt be worried at all going across the atlantic on a twin engine. Its problary the safest of all the oceans to cross as you are hardly never more than 2hrs away from an airport if a problem occurse

Just to echo the previous posters I have flown many times across the atlantic in twins 777 and 767;s and never had a problem.

I am starting to look forward to enduring a no-frills 9 hour economy flight... uh-hu! I have ofcourse been researching and the aircraft used by flyglobespan to SFB (lol - not SFO) is a fairly new 767 from Air New Zeland and every seat has power, so out comes the laptop and on go the DVDs... I will just make a wee sticker saying V:Port and stick it to my screen and try and kid myself!!

If flyglobespan are still operating this route come the next decade, you will find that it will probably be operated by B787 Dreamliners if unconfirmed reports suggests they're gonna lease some from ILFC turn out to be true[?]

Methinks that flyglobespan are starting to bite off more that they can chew[:?]

I tend to agree with this.. I flew on one of their first flights from PIK to AGP and that was only 4 years ago... Now its off to Liverpool, Cape Town, Orlando... what next - Sydney!! I think if they keep spending money on new routes and bumping prices up they might lose custom and go bust - lets hope not.

Hmm, I really am dreading it... I wonder if they will accept 30k VS miles to sit up front lol [ii] I wish! I work part time as a travel agent, do you think the "Hi I work for [Insert Company Name Here] and we get a lot of customers going to Orlando, so I shall be reviewing this route, blah blah" will work?? I was told on the VS flight from Dubai by the FSM that if i had told them I was a TA when boarding, they had plenty of space and I would probably got to sit up front... Damn it! Mind you, I got the new PE seats (reminder to self - TR soon!).

How much do you want to bet on flyglobespan announcing a route to Sydney before going bust[:p][}:)]

Hey all...
Supposed to be going to Florida tomorrow, but due to the mother of the family I was going with taking very ill - we are having to cancel.[:#][:#]
It was going to be myself, rachel and her parents meeting with sarah (rachel's sister) for a week in orlando. Sarah works in Disney and had special tickets which got us in free and allowed us to skip the queues [8D].

After the terror threat, Rachel's mum got very, very worried about the flight - more than me, I was fine - safest time to fly if you ask me. In fact she got so ill, she has had a mental breakdown and we have had to cancel...

So thanks for your support, I shall do the flight one day... Maybe I will use my miles and go VS [:o)]. Does anybody know whether I should phone flyglobespan, or just no show and claim... John
