american airlines first class

good afternoon,
having got a damn good fare thru expedia's mistake
on AA first class lhr -mia has anyone got any ideas
what AA first class is like, the fare was onway
435pounds which i thought was ok?!
i now have to use some of my miles and upgrade hopefully
from pe to uc mia-lhr
any advice would help, cheers

I have only ever used AA domestic 1st which at best could be described as PE on VS or WT+ on BA.I think there are a couple of people that have flown international 1st on here who im sure will post a reply.

However at that price I would grab it as it can not be that bad and the price is very cheap.

AA transatlantic first class on the 777 has two different seating configurations, old and new, with the new being the "pod" style and the others being traditional seats. Worth seeing if you can get yourself on a flight with the new style seating: you can tell from the seatmap.

Incidentally, this problem with Expedia was fixed a few days after it occurred, and only applied to one way ex-LHR flights. Good deal for people who found a cheap-ish return flight though.

£435 for Fcl one way LHRMIA sounds WAY too good to be true.
I'd bank its a fare mistake by Expedia... interesting to see if its bookable.

A couple of years ago Malaysian Airlines had first class seats to Sydney on sale for £1 on their website... bought 4 myself, but received an email the next day withdrawing the booking.

well thanks, yes the fare was booked with expedia
and ticketed with american airlines and now confirmed
as i said the fare was 435 pounds oneway but what the
hell i needed to go so expedia's error is my good fortune,
i have checked on th aa web site and i should have the
suite, now i just ned to now if the service and food etc.,
are good?

That's a great price and I hope you enjoy the trip. AA first is a very good product though like all it has lost a few of its frills over the years. When I first started flying AA first there was a caviar trolly which was ace, sadly no more.

You should get the pod seats as most AA flights from LHR have them. They are very spacious and very comfortable imo, though the interior design is a little dull and there's no mood lighting. The seat and space is quite well thought out, the seat has three directional positions to suit working, resting and sleeping and the work position is very good, with excellent space for papers and laptop.

The standard AA IFE is available (which is crap) but in first you can get a wide range of generally good films on a personal DVD player (older planes have that cassette in the chair system).

I've always found the food on AA first to be excellent, there is always a good steak option and it's well presented, sizeable and accompanied by good wines.

The crew may be older, and many are not as friendly as a VS crew, but they're without doubt professional.

I agree with Slinky; the AA First option on the 777s is very good. Same wines and champagnes as Business though - which is a bit cheap! The food is good, the cabin very spacious. Just plain and a bit stuffy though. Staff are very courteous, though not the young, fun crowd to be found on VS.

Slinky gave a good account of AA first. If I had a choice and it had to be on an American-flagged carrier I would use my Platinum status to try and snag an upgrade to F. Otherwise there just isn't anything that compares with the European or Asian carriers in premium classes.

Have they standardised the wines? Last time I flew F (two years ago) there was vintage in F compared to NV champagne in J for example, and certainly the food was different ... that is a shame if so and a serious levelling of service.

Just thought - not much opportunity for this anymore with the "no liquids" mantra. Even Berry Bros and Rudd at LHR T3 is much smaller now and carries a lot less than it used to - it's almost impossible to find too in its new location.
