Interesting stuff this is. They are the 3rd UK airline now to order the Boeing 787 'Dreamliner' after First Choice and flyglobespan.

Heres the linkhttp://www.flymonarch.com/cnt/news/index.asp?headlineID=743

Here's my predictions for the other charter carriers on whether they will get the 787 or the new A350XWB

*THOMSONFLY---787
Britannia always bought Boeing jets and all of the TUI Group airliners have large Boeing fleets so a change to Airbus will be a shock move.

*THOMAS COOK---A350XWB
They've got 2 A330s and another one on order so when they do eventually come round to ordering their replacements it could go Airbus' way.

*MYTRAVEL---A350XWB
These guys have tried (and failed) to operate an all-Airbus fleet. The venerable 757 has made a comeback in the form of G-WJAN and 2 of their 3 767-300s have been recalled from Skyservice (the 3rd one is with Monarch). Getting to the point all recent aircraft orders/acquisitions have been Airbuses so I wouldn't be surprised if this continued.

*EXCEL---787
Already operate a fleet of Boeings from the Avion Group so the 787 would be a natural progression for them.

As for the other UK airliners, only time will tell. Just my opinions.

My prediction for Excel is wrong [:I] They have recently ordered two A330s with options for a further three. Due for delivery in 2008.

As for the MyTravel boys, well G-WJAN is gone for good apparently, the 2 767s look like staying on for a little while longer.

Surprised that Excel/Air Atlanta went for Airbus- their parent company seem very keen on Boeing products.

Thomsonfly will go for the 787 but I doubt it will ever be seen with TOM colours- TUI want to merge all their airlines into one large TUI airways- in particular Happag Lloyd, TOM and HLX.
