Hi,
Date of stay 22nd to 25th August
Room 201
Rate $69USD
Arrived from Delhi around 430pm and checked in straight away and was upgraded from a Garden view room to a pool view room.
There is some construction work going on in the area to the left of the lobby but it was not too noisy.
The hotel is shaped like a square ( on two floors) with the pool and fountains nicely landscaped in the central courtyard . There are about 138 rooms in the hotel ( no lifts)
The rooms are fine ( not 5 star but fine) and comfortable with table, seats, tvs ( both indian and english channels).
For the size of the hotel the pool is quite large (15-20m long) and deep ( 4feet) so suitable for lengths.
The minibar prices were quite reasonable ( 25Rps for a litre of water and 70 for a can of soft drinks). Tea/coffe makers were provided.
The floor is tiled but there is a carpet by the table.
The bathroom was fine with the only small snag being in the shower there was no shower curtain , only a glass screen which only went half way down the bath so water ended up splashing on the floor and the bathroom sink area
The restaurant serves dinner from 7pm ( you could eat in the bar earlier with snacks such as burger and chips )
Food was good with a la carte and a indian/european buffet including fruit, salad, two soups ( 550 rps for the buffet). Deserts were very good.
There is a small fitness center ( one of the rooms - 166 with a treadmill ,weights and stairmaster). The key can be obtained from the front desk.
There is also a bookshop, a travle agent ( Avis sign) and a hair salon
Breakfast was good with another good buffet by the second night the staff recognised me).
The times of India was delivered to my door each morning and the laundry was cheap.
There is not a lot to do outside the hotel as it is a road with the roadside stalls during the day. but there is a shopping center being built about 500m from the hotel ( the posters say there will be a WH smith, cinema and a food court).
You could walk to the Taj Mahal (1.5k) but probably not recommended especially in the heat and humidity of August) as you will be walking along the road but I had a car and driver.
Overall a pleasant and cheap hotel to stay at when visiting Agra and the pool is great to jump into after a hot morning sightseeing. and in the evening after dinner.
You can walk outside the lobby , turn left and head up a somall path round the outside of the hotel to the childrens camp area, a vegetable garden and two hammocks for a change of view from the internal courtyard.
Regards
