There was an item on LBC radio here in London today, about First Choice airlines allegedly using a scam to get money out of customers.

According to some callers to the station, the airline makes it's cabins much colder than normal, and charges passengers £10 each for a blanket (they are not provided free).

The staff work on a commission apparently, and use this method to extract higher sales.

I have no plans to fly first choice, but was wondering if any v-flyers had experienced this on First Choice, or indeed any other ailrine?

Disgusting though it is (and I don't agree with it, if it's true) - it's a bloody good scam!

£10 for a blanket [?][?][V]

I assume for that money, you can keep it - and recoup your losses on EBay. [8D][:I]

That's why restaurants in the US are so cold, when you're cold you eat more.

Indeed. You can always warm up - it's more difficult to cool down.

Probably to recoup lost money from airfares by taking out 50 seats from their 767s.

I wouldn't want to be on a cold plane though [V]

Cabins are always too hot for me - I rarely have a blanket over me.

Maybe VS could adopt this scam and use the money to re-introduce the chocolates on the UC bar - I'd be happy:D

As others have said...

When your cold, its easier to warm up with a blanket or such on a plane... Its not so easy to remove clothes to cool down!

I would opt for a cold cabin!

Whenever I've asked on a VS flight, I've been told the cabin is hot because people have requested it, not because they hope it'll help people will sleep and not bother the staff. I'm not so sure though [?]

Having just finished the famous 'Air Babylon', I now have to question if its hot to keep us warm, or force us to sleep!!!

But, as always, I am sure there are 2 side to this age old battle!
