I am off to NY this weekend and will be in Manhattan for Tuesday's Halloween Parade through Greenwich Village. Has anyone been to this before and can you recommend good places to stand/ drink/ eat nearby?

Any other Vflyers going to be there?

Cheers

Yep indeed Mark, I was in NY last October and didn't realise it was on until I was there. To be honest I didn't watch the parade as I got there too late and was planning on getting a table at my favourite restaurant (shortest wait for a table I had ever had).
I did though mill about around Greenwich Village after the parade and it was a great atmosphere in the streets with all manner of mad costumes wandering about.
It runs up 6th Ave from spring to 23rd, if I am correct. Simply due to the more grid like nature of the roads a better view maybe acheived further up the route towards 23rd.
Needless to say I would get to your spot early.

One tip, not sure where you're staying but if you getting down to that vicinity by Subway plan your exit out of the station very carefully as once your out of the station, due to the crowds you can't get back in. If you come out of the wrong side of 6th it can be a very long trip round to get to the side you wanted - that said the view I'm sure is great whereever you are.

Look out for a 7ft drag queen (fozzyo) and a tuxedo'ed rat pack era Zombie (myself).

Have a blast!

Thanks for the tips - silly me was thinking of getting a cab down from midtown but subway is probably going to be the more sensible option.

I am flying tomorrow too (on my birthday) so if we are all on the VS25 we can have a celebration drink at the bar.

Thanks again

You lucky people, what a hoot it will be. Friends of mine are taking part in the Dallas Hallowe'en (drag) parade and I wish I was with them.

Don't our American friends do some fun things!

Enjoy.

As for restaurants, you're near the Gotham Bar and Grill which is A1 excellent. If you can't get a table, there's every chance you could eat at the bar if you wait a little.

Mark, we're on the VS45 so unless you get to the clubhouse early our paths may miss. We generally amble out of there about quater past one...
