Malta....

Smallish place....south of Sicily (or so the map tells me). Nicely situated in the middle of the med.

Has anyone been there, any thoughts on the place? The old boy network (bless it, I thought it was dead) just upped it's head and potentially offered me a job there, providing I pass muster with the people that have three letter job descriptions starting with 'C'.

I don't think I've ever been (its hard to be sure as I sailed around there a lot when I worked on cruise ships but I don’t remember ever docking there).

Any unvarnished opinions would be welcome, I've been doing a fair bit of research but I'd be interested in other's opinions.

Hi Adam,

Malta is not much bigger than Antigua but has it own charm. Very similar I would think to your present posting but more european obviously. The weather is fabulous but quite enough that the tourists don't bother you too much. Great for diving, same as A&B. In fACT IT IS THE SAME AS A&B. Just in the med. Nearer to v-flyer functions though:)

We were last in Malta in 1994, so it may well have changed since then.

We spent much of our holiday travelling around in the green buses that frequent the Island and that was like a near death experience. They all drive like lunatics as I remember[:0]But as it is a strongly catholic country there were lots of crucifixes and the like hanging from rear view mirrors so I guess that kept them safe.

We were there in June and had fantastic weather, hot and sunny. The city of Valletta is beautiful and we found the Maltese to be very hospitable people :D

Only been once but we loved the place, too small for me to want to live there though.

They have one of the most strongly fortified ports in the world and make their own version of Bristol Gin which is quite good. They may have no maltesers but I understand they are well stocked with M&M's.
