Change to Amex UK MR T & C's

This was on my Amex statement I received today regarding earning membership reward points for Amex fees (or not as is the case from next year):

From 1st Feb 2008 no points will accure in respect of fees/charges, including joining, annual card fess and membership reward fees

(Could someone explain the difference between earnt and earned)
