Boulders Beach to see the Penguin's :D

How long will you be there for? Honey Lamb has named the top attractions that should keep you busy for a good few days.

Thanks,
Sarah

Think this post might just be right up my street!

I am glad boulders was mentioned... as its december the BEACH is a very good attraction. Try Clifton or Camps Bay (great bars/restaurants) for the trendy Cape Town beach experience and Llandudno is fantastic as a more family orientated beach.

Great restaurants are La Colombe in Constantia Uitsig and Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek is prob the best restaurant in SA. Book well in advance! Will think of more throught the day.

I'm going to Cape Town for 3 weeks over Dec/Jan too! Cant wait! And my first UC flight!!

Boulders Beach or Hermanus are both good - if I had to choose I'd probably go for Boulders for the pure novelty of swimming with penguins.

Perhaps try heading inland to Paarl or Franschoek

Can I add one of my favourite restaurants to the list - Baia at the Waterfront. Some of the best seafood I have ver had anywhere in the world. You will need to book though.

Open top bus from V&A waterfront is very touristy but is a must as it takes you everywhere around Capetown/points of interest and Camps bay and is cheap. You can get on and off at any of the stops all day.
V&A waterfront is great for restaurants and bars. Jazz bar there has had something like 7000 consecutive nights of jazz.
Capecobras for 5.7 litre V8 AC Cobra rental for a blast along Chapmans Peak is also great fun(see my pics on V flyer). Wine country is fantastic, roads are great.
Water on the Atlantic side is seriously freezing even in Summer.Turquoise like the carribean but colder than a polar bears down belows. Beaches are like soft sugar. Food and wine was superb and cheap as was the petrol (not to eat and drink though).
All the people we met were fantastic and friendly. You will have a great time.

Riding in Hermanus and Knysna....fabulous, never ending beaches and a visit to the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens--wonderful walks. The township visit in Knysna is very, very different from anywhere else.

Knysna - that's a good point. If you have the time, I'd definitely recommend a drive along the Garden Route to Knysna or Pletenburg Bay. Good beaches, boats on legs out to Knysna Heads, lagoons and a trip over to the not too far Storm River mouth is well worth it.
In fact, I think some of the region's best attractions are outside Cape Town - wine country, Garden Route etc.

Edited to add - see here

Cape Town is an amazing city, as most have said. There is a lovely restaurant on the V&A Waterfront called Balthazar, you will have to book, it is a gerat place if you love MEAT! They have their own butchers and a GREAT wine selection.

Stellenboch is great and a really beautiful town!

So jealous, I loved CT! The people are lovely, food great, and FAB wine!
