We decided to stay here after a friend recommended it.

Well we have been here for two days now and well its just not ...

To put it into context on our last holiday we stayed at the Langham Place in HK and cannot, no matter how hard we try, stop comparing the two which is a little unfair to Traders.

We have a Club room with a superb view out across to the Petronas Towers.

There is nothing wrong with the room or its cleanliness - but it doesn't have the ipod dock so we can listen to music nor does it have a dvd player. We knew this before booking but it doesn't really register until its not actually available.

The Traders Club lounge is more like an airline airport lounge quite big and impersonal (again compared to LP) and definitely does not have the same level of customer focus or drinks and nibbles of the LP. What is does have and cannot be faulted for are spectacular views out of both sides of the hotel. The muzak is a bit loud for my liking although it does help drown out the noise of the childen running around playing.

Check in was done here at 2230 and there was no one in the lounge - whereas at the LP there was always someone around, guests and staff.

Breakfast can be taken either in the club or the main restaurant which is a large multicultural spread chinese/japanese/malay/western etc. Very nice no complaints there. We are having Christmas lunch buffet there tomorrow so hopefully it will be good.

The staff, apart from the housekeeping ones who always say hello etc, give off an air of aloofness even when asking a question or placing an order.

The Skybar on the 33rd floor surrounding the pool is very atmospheric with candle lit tables set up on the rooftop - just don't slip into the pool. It even has a dress code no shorts or sandals - a bit odd with an outside temp of mid 20 at night. The drinks are priced the same as in Australia so no saving there!! And if I am honest the martini and singapore sling were not that well made. But I didn't complain as it is hard enough getting the staff to understand the order in the first place.

There is nothing really wrong with the hotel in terms of value for money or its star classification.

Anyway there you have it. This hotel has good reviews on various websites but we were spoilt in Hong Kong. Please don't be put off by our observations they are clouded.

As I write this from the lounge a thunderstorm has moved across the twin towers and we are watching the lightning, and the ant sized peple running for cover from the downpour.
