Until now Heathrow has added additional terminals numbering them sequentially - hence the opening of Terminal 5. However plans are already well advanced to demolish T2 and replace it (and also ultimately T1) with Heathrow East. Bearing this in mind should T5 not have been called Heathrow West?

Working on this basis T4 would be Heathrow South and any future T6 would be Heathrow North. This would of course leave T3 - which would have to be called Heathrow Central.

If things stay the way they are planned there will not be a T1 or T2 but there will still be T3-5 (6?).

P.S. Maybe a competetition to name them: T5 could be 'The Dark Side' Terminal

Im not 100% sure that Heathrow East will remain Heathrow East once built. I remember reading somewhere that it was the name for the project of redeveloping T2 and the Queens Building and eventually T1. Maybe once HE is open they will split it in half so its East 1 and East 2?!!?

Its also worth remembering that T2 was originally called the Europa Building for a number of years after it opened.

If BAA get the green light then T6 would be built to the north alongside a 3rd runway.

As a side official documents/presentations from BAA on Heathrow East show that they envisage VS along with *a being the main operator from the terminal.
