The rolling 12 month qualification for Hilton Honours status will be gone at the end of this year, being replaced with a standard 1st Jan-31st Dec qualification period. The rolling tier is still active until the end of the year so if you can hit the target by December 31st, status will be valid until 03/2010.

How many of your 180k base points will disappear before the end of the year?

Can't tell any more since they removed the rolling qualifications! I know I added 60K in December so guessing 110K+ this year...

The VIP tier wizard is still there and updating - it's just they've removed the URL link from the member's services page.

You need to be logged in to your account, and then enter:
https://secure.hilton.com/toEpsilon?act ... iptier_pop

So I changed my planned bookings to SPG or Marriott. Reason is simple. I will not get a higher status in HH and my status based benefits with SPG and Marriott are better (oddly both statuses are comp'ed).

Can I ask a question for clarification?

It's my understanding that if you reach diamond before the end of this year, it will be good till the end of 2009

I'm also guessing that the to reach qualification for 2010, it will include all stays for 2009 only?

Does this mean, having reached diamond on saturday, I can now think about staying elsewhere till the end of this year?

Ta in advance,

Paul

Well they've removed the calculator now and confirm that once qualified in a year you qualify for the rest of the next year so no point in any more Hilton stays for me this year. So may as well look at going for SPG Plat or Marriott whatever. Decisions decisions.

I think its quite complicated as they have changed the criteria three times this year.

I believe anyone qualifying for gold/diamond up to July this year had their status extended for 14 months. IE achieve 16 stays in a rolling year with last stay in may 08 would extend gold to July 09.

Once the calendar year criteria was introduced, anyone achieving gold/diamond in August 08 - December 08 on a rolling 12 month basis has their status extended to March 2010.( I believe the actual cut off date was 6th August )

Stays in 2009 calendar year will count towards extending status to March 2011.
