Firstly, of course he still has to be found guilty, blood test and all.

However, blaming British beer is not going to work, if your a pilot on a AA 777 you have seniority and you have flown this route before, you know about British beer being stronger than American and most importantly, you know the f**king rules, sorry but I know some pilots, on their off times they drink like fish, but 48 hours before a flight they stop dead, if you can't go 2 days between a drink then do I really want you at the controls, I know the rule is 24 hours btw, but really, as this proves, why not give it 48 to be 100% sure.

Yes he was F***ing mad.

A friend of mine works as a station assistant for one of the railway companies in the Midlands and even he has strict drinking rules to follow and hes not even a train driver!

The pilot was mad and deserves everything thrown at him !

The link in Tinkerbelle's post states the blood tests showed he was way over, and he pleaded guilty. Unlike that very strange case of the pilot in Manchester (again flying to ORD) who claimed to have drunk whisky in his sleep (after *starting* a drinking session less than 24 hours before his flight, IIRC).

Opps, I didn't even notice Tink's link [:I]

Well if he felt the need to drink the night before then I have no sympathy for the guy, as a Captain he knows better.
