Hi all,

I've read some useful info here about the Hilton Dubai Creek, including honey lamb's handy review.

Since it's a more businessy hotel, what are the beach options? I gather that a lot of the hotels in Dubai have private beaches, is that right? What do you do if your hotel doesn't and you want some sand?

No easy beach access isn't the end of the world, but just like to know what I'm getting!

Thanks

Firstly, I can endorse everything HL says about the Dubai Creek Hilton

ISTBC but the hotel has a shuttle bus that takes you down to the Hilton on the beach

buns is correct. There is a free shuttle bus going to the Hilton Jumeirah and on production of your hotel key you have access to the gardens pool and beach (and also restaurants if you so choose) Any one else wishing to go there has to pay for access.

On my first trip it was possible to charge back to the Hilton Dubai Creek but last year that had changed so be sure to bring money with you.

I have not actually been to the hotel, but know the area. It is in the older part of town (the Creek was the original trading port where Dubai grew out from) and quite close to the airport. A bus from the Creek to Hilton Jumeriah Beach is likely to take an hour and if you returned in the evening rush hour - a lot longer.

I suppose it depends upon what you want. The Creek is good for exploring traditional Dubai (museums, Gold Souk etc) especially at this time of year when it can be done on foot. However if you want a Beach holiday and more of a Western feel then the Hilton Jumeriah Beach for example would be better. Its on a public beach which is kept in a reasonable condition.

In my opinion, the percentage of Dubai hotels than are even on a beach is very low. For a private beach, it will be very expensive (i.e. Burj Al Arab and its neighbouring hotels, Westin etc).

Hope this helps

Thanks

Thanks guys, that's great information. I think I'm leaning towards the Hilton Jumeirah now - I am boring and do like my Western style holidays! The Creek sounds like a nicer hotel, but I think overall it might not be the best option for somebody as totally unadventurous as me! Will definitely go and check out whichever one I pass on for next time though.

Does anybody have experience of upgrades for Hilton golds at either hotel?

Thanks,

Ben

Ben - Hilton Jumeirah is a nice hotel, especially inside. It may look dated and small on the outside, but they keep it in good condition. It one of my 'locals' and directly below our apartment, just make sure you get a sea view and do not accept a room over looking the road - it get very busy and noisey.

We got upgraded to a higher floor and were silver at the time. However a problem is that the VS flight arrives early and they do all they can to simply get you a room (remember check in time is usually around 3pm). I would not hold out for an upgrade, especially at this time of the year; with the weather improving Dubai is becoming very busy.

Good luck

hi Ben

We stayed at the Hilton Creek & lurved it[y][y][:D][8D].
We stayed with our 2 older daughters who also lurved it.

We are also totally unadventurous but felt fine about this hotel. We got the complimentary shuttle (small tip to the driver appreciated)to the Hilton on the beach & were pleased we stayed in the city & went to the beach for a day.

We loved lazing by the rooftop pool drinking in the amazing atmosphere & listening to the call to prayer.

We flew in to DXB with Emirates so landed about 5pm & we'd booked direct with Hilton so had a complimentary car waiting for us.

Whatever you do, enjoy every moment.
