An American pilot who tried to fly a plane from Heathrow while three times over the alcohol limit has been given a 10-month jail sentence suspended for two years.
Captain Erwin Vermont Washington, 51, was charged on November 9 last year after a concerned colleague who smelled alcohol on his breath reported him to police.
