Recently I cut the tip of my right index finger which necessitated a band-aid. The entry to my gym is by finger-print recognition of that finger which obviously failed and I had to be admitted by the staff. It got me to wondering what would happen if I presented myself at Immigration in the USA in these circumstances?

The other half's mother had been doing some decorating before going to the states once, had managed to sand most of her fingerprints off. Didn't delay her much.

Happened to me last year, band aid on nasty cut, immigration office had no issues with alternative fingers proposed!

Firstly, TSA wouldn't care, your dealing with CBP when you come into the country.

However, I actually asked this question the last time I came through LA, if no digits are available they will do an iris scan.

You're right, of course. I think we tend to lump anything that goes on in a US airport about getting in and getting out as TSA :D

Of course they do work in concert to make our lives as difficult as possible when travelling through US airports; CBP/Homeland security on the way in and TSA on the way out (and anywhere internally).

Similar story.

Ex mother in law took plane to USA (her broomstick was in for service) and presented sandpapered fingers.

Didn't delay her at all.
