Daughter decided she wants a camera for Christmas - looking for a simple digital model around £150 - quite good prices on Amazon etc but travelling through HK and Bangkok early next month and wondered if anyone knew if the prices would be cheaper? Won't have time to shop in either city, but always have time at the airports.

Unless she want a bells and whistles SLR camera rather than a point and shoot then £ 150 will be more than adequate for a simple model.

What does she want it for? Normal holiday use or is she a budding Paul Reiffer (V-Flyers very own David Bailey !) ?

Have a look at Jessops or even the camera display in Dixons for ideas.

I got my Nikon Coolpix L22 for about £70 from Jessops earlier this year and it is more than adequat for normal 'point and shoot' photography and it has many otehr features as well (most of which I have no idea about).

Normal shop but I orderd it online for collection.

I don't think they have any DF shops.

I've bought my last few cameras from either Amazon or Play.com that both have free delivery. The prices were so cheap that it was a no brainer each time - definitely cheaper than at the airport.

In HK you can get some awesome deals on cameras but no idea about the airport unfortunately. In the street shops your camera price is negotiable and they will then start piling on extras for free, memory card; case; screen protector; tripod and so on. They clinched my deal with a photo album book! What's more the price was £20 cheaper than the base camera in Jessops and because it was HK it came with a UK plug charger.
