We are travelling to Krabi next week booked with VH. Heathrow to Bangkok with Etihad and Bangkok to Krabi with Thai - all Business.

At Bangkok we have a 7 hour wait before our Thai flight, so I assume as this is on a different ticket, we'll need to collect our luggage and check-in again. However, at Abu Dhabi we only have a 95 minute change of aircraft so what happens there? Do we have to go through immigration and then check-in for the second half of the flight? I'm assuming our bags will be checked through to BKK.

Any thoughts about this please, as I must confess the thought of the quick transit at Abu Dhabi is causing me some concern.

You should not need to collect your luggage even if you did not check all the way through.
You will need to go to the transfer desk for the airline you are using for your next flight and give them the baggage tags. They 'should' take care of the whole thing but make sure that you get new baggage tags before you depart (this may not be until the gate as they will need the old ones to collect your bags and then issue new ones). But you must ensure you get them otherwise you have no receipt for your luggage at all.

When you transfer you do not go through immigration as you are not entering the country (as long as you remain airside at the airport). 95 mins should be plenty of time.
